Gender, Power, & Persecution in Cold War America

  • SUNY Adirondack Bryan Hall, Room 128 640 Bay Road Queensbury, NY, 12804 United States (map)

As Cold War anxieties gripped the nation,  anti-communist and anti-LGBTQ+ campaigns targeted not only suspected radicals but also those who defied traditional gender roles. This presentation considers how women participated in and even fueled the anti-communist movement, including their roles in political clubs, media, and grassroots activism.
