Climate Can’t wait!
New Yorkers are facing dual challenges: rising energy costs and the accelerating impacts of climate change. While New York has made real progress toward its clean energy goals, we need to double down on the solutions that deliver the greatest impact for energy affordability and climate.
Are we meeting the goals of New York State’s signature legislation: Climate Leadership & Community Protection Act? If not, what is an alternative plan? What are the priority climate related bills for the coming legislative session? What are advocacy strategies? What are the challenges and opportunities for solar and wind energy in New York State?
Panel Discussion Co-presenters:
Michael Richardson, Campaigns Director for Third Act, founded by Bill McKibben, an organization of elders using their life experiences, skills, and resources to safeguard the climate and protect democracy. Locally, he is the co-founder of the working group in Upstate NY and a leader within the NY climate movement, previously serving on the steering committee of NY Renews, the coalition responsible for passing the landmark 2019 NY Climate Law (CLCPA).
Kate Selden works for Solar One as Director of Policy & Programs. She is an equity solar policy analyst where she participates in clean energy coalitions, helps draft and communicates the organizations positions and develops relationships with environmental justice, clean energy, workforce and affordable housing partners.
