At both the state and national level, the goal of the Program Planning process is to achieve collective agreement around how the League will move our mission forward for the next two years. We can think of Program as being both our policy positions and how we direct our resources of time, energy, and money. 

Timeline: 

• January through March, 2026: Local and State Leagues across the country hold Program Planning Meetings to determine education and advocacy platform Program recommendations. 

• Boards review member recommendations and approve results to be submitted.

• March 10, 2026: Program Planning Survey is due to National League (LWVUS).

• May 2026: LWVUS Board proposal is shared with state and local Leagues.

• June 24th - 28th: Convention Delegates debate and vote on Program.

NOTE: The League adopts Program at each biennial LWV National Convention held in even years. In the odd years, we hold our state conventions across the country.
