A continuation of the Profiles in Courage Series that showcases what we can learn from the resilience and determination of past movements as we defend the democratic principles of justice and inclusion. Firehoses, attack dogs, Jim Crow, degradation, burning crosses, lynchings, Where did Black freedom fighters find the courage to demand their rights in a country still grounded in white supremacy? Two students and teachers of the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s will help us better understand what civil rights organizers were up against and how they kept going - so we all can work to put and end to persistent racism.
