Saturday Caucus:  "National Popular Vote"

Co-hosted by the LWV of Arizona, the LWV of New York State and the LWV of El Dorado County, CA. This caucus will explore the National Popular Vote (NPV) Compact, which is a state-by-state approach to change the way the Electoral College works. The National Popular Vote compact would guarantee that the presidential candidate who receives the most popular votes in all 50 states and the District of Columbia would win the Presidency.

Vermont Representative Chris Pearson, our guest speaker, will provide an overview of the compact, already signed into law in some states and introduced in many others. The LWV of New York State will provide League analysis of the pros and cons they have reviewed and why they are requesting a national study. The LWV of Arizona will explain their rationale for a formal resolution on this matter versus a national study.

Date:  Saturday, June 14  8:30-10 pm.
Location: TBA
